Designation: Administrative Manager

Job Level:       Senior Executive Officer

Reporting to:     The Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Association of Manufacturers

Work Type:        Permanent

Location:             Nairobi

Job Purpose: To provide oversight on KAM Operations including Financial and Budget oversight and Procurement Functions

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide organizational oversight on KAM projects and financial management functions;
  • Provide oversight on administrative functions in areas of human resource management, communication, office administration, procurement, logistics and related matters;
  • Develop, establish and direct the execution of operational policies to support the achievement of overall company objectives;
  • Establish and lead in implementing necessary monitoring and evaluation framework for KAM activities
  • Establish performance goals and targets, allocate resources and assess the performance of senior management reporting to the position;
  • Play a lead role in organizational planning;
  • Represent the organization and participate in relevant high level operations meetings.
  • Spearhead the organization’s fund raising initiatives;
  •  Provide oversight on budget management, income generation and expenditure for KAM;
  •  Provide oversight on membership development so as to increase membership and support service delivery to members with the support of KAM team.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the KAM CEO from time to time. 

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, project management or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience, with at least 3 years at senior management level providing oversight on comparable functions;
  • Excellent project management and monitoring skills with good understanding of operations
  • Solid working knowledge of business development, membership growth in a business association, budgeting, marketing and strategic planning;
  • Proven intellectual leadership in developing and managing people as well as managing performance;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies.
  • Strong leadership skills and a team player

Job Purpose: To provide overall direction and oversight of KAM Consulting - an autonomous Strategic Business Unit of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

To offer strategic leadership to the organizational development (OD) and business growth of the Strategic Business Unit by ensuring that;

  • KAM Consulting is established as an operationally autonomous entity recognized to provide business services;
  • Identify, prioritize and develop key high quality firm level business services targeting manufacturing sector in terms of;

                                 i.            Production improvement

                               ii.            Market development and

                              iii.            Energy efficiency

                             iv.            Strategic Planning and Execution

                               v.            Capacity Development

  • Maintain relations with external service providers to be retained to offer services on behalf of KAM Consulting
  • Formulate and Lead marketing strategies for services offered by KAM Consulting;
  • Maintain Quality Assurance for KAM Consulting Services;
  • Determine key revenue drivers for the various services offered by KAM Consulting;
  • Determine, recruit and undertake line management roles for the required human resource capacity necessary for KAM Consulting to deliver its business plan;
  • Financial oversight to KAM Consulting;
  • Ensure timely reporting to the CEO on KAM consulting activities.
  • Any other duties as may be allocated by the CEO.


Qualifications:

  •   A degree either in Business, Marketing, Project Development or Finance or any other relevant field.
  • Demonstrated successful innovation and execution of corporate entrepreneurship, especially in a manufacturing setting.
  • Over 5 years experience running a consultancy business in a highly competitive environment.

Project Team Leader - Strengthening Business Society Engagement in Climate Change Resilience(SBSECC)

Job Level:     Senior Executive Officer

Work Type:     Term Contract 15 Months Renewable Based on Project Continuity and Performance

Location:     Nairobi

Job Purpose: Provide project oversight in the execution, management, and timely cost effective attainment and delivery of the SBSECC project. This will include championing the project and liaising with internal and external - partners and stakeholders to ensure the successful strengthening of the business society engagement on climate change resilience in Kenya and EA.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Duties will be broadly as defined by the Project Document and any changes agreed to by all parties. Your major responsibilities will among others include;

  1. As project manager you will have the overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, reporting, and closure of the project. 
  2. You will identify, guide, supervise, manage, and develop Terms of Reference (ToR) that will guide execution by the short term experts’ key in the execution of the project and help build up into other resources available within KAM to support other energy related work.
  3. Promote, champion, and facilitate investment in climate resilient technologies by lobbying for, and engaging regulators to facilitate the provision of affordable and reliable energy; energy efficiency, renewable energy and Climate change adaptation and resilience. This is both at the National level and in identified counties.
  4. Efficiently schedule and managing project resources (financial and human) as per budget and internal KAM procedures.
  5. Prepare and submit timely and accurate project reports to the project administrator(s), operator(s) or funders and as may be required.
  6. Identify, map, develop and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure project success.
  7. Develop and implement a formal process - with quality checks and controls, that will receive and process new funding applications, and develop the most promising projects to a “bankable” level that may receive onward financing
  8. Develop the technical capacity of applicants, project owners, prospective project developers, and identified stakeholders towards packaging projects to a bankable level. I.e (Projects able to get to financial close within the basic  requirements of   local  financing partners and actors).It is expected that out of the six Feasibility studies to be delivered , at least half of them will be  delivered within the first year. This will also be expected of the pre-feasibility studies as per the draft work plan. 
  9. Build the capacity of identified county government officials, lobby and advocate for development of climate sensitive policies and strategies at the identified county levels. It is expected that within the first one year sensitization will have been done and  draft strategies  developed geared towards finalization for the  target  counties.
  10. Support the General Energy Audits, Investment Grade Audits, Audit Reports and other technical firm level interventions on energy efficiency and help to promote the investment grade audits and energy audits to viable “bankable” projects that can be supported through the programme.
  11. Research and advise on global, regional and local, energy trends and prepare advisory notes, or advocacy position papers on a quarterly basis or as required. 
  12. Offer technical support to advocacy on energy issues including; tariff price, and impact analyses, campaigns and making presentations to Energy Sector stakeholders such as Ministry of Energy, regulators, power generators and distributors;
  13. Liaise with KAM’s Communication and PRAU to prepare quality advocacy materials, position papers, technical communication, and media responses on  energy Issues 
  14. Build in-house KAM capacity (CEEC/RTAP) towards  responding to member enquiries on the energy related issues;
  15. Work jointly with Energy Services Executive officer and liaise with the Association of Large Electricity Consumers (AOLEC) to ensure concerns of the greater KAM membership are taken on board in their representation to Government;
  16. Offer technical advice on other related projects located at  the KAM and notably the CEEC;
  17. Promote technical cooperation and knowledge sharing with in energy efficiency, renewable energy and Climate change adaptation and resilience
  18. Facilitate Business to Business cooperation towards promoting climate resilient development.  
  19. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor or the Chief Executive

Qualifications:

  • A good international track record in renewable energy and energy efficiency systems development, engineering and project implementation. The individual must have prepared or worked on at least two similar projects in the last 3 years or an equivalent to demonstrate significant experience.
  • Good experience in climate related adaptation/resilience in the business sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing climate change, energy efficiency Projects at national regional and sub-regional levels.
  • Good Knowledge of advocacy especially as appertains to climate change, energy policy and energy planning.
  • Good knowledge of the Kenyan climate change and energy policy environment is an advantage plus a good understanding of the climate change efforts in place in Kenya and at the global level.
  • Experience with working in the east African region and particularly in Kenya will be an added advantage.
  • Good relations with international partners and especially DFID.
  • Good presentation and oratory skills and ability to work with and coordinate divergent mix of stakeholders
  • Good drafting/writing skills.

Location: Nairobi

Job Purpose:    To provide overall project coordination and facilitation role in liaison with project team leader SBSECC to ensure project success, sustainability and the overall delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Coordinator will work on full-time basis coordinating the activities of the above project under the directive of the Project Team Leader, Strengthening Business Society Engagement in Climate Change Resilience (SBSECC).

Duties and responsibilities shall entail managing and coordination of the SBSECC activities in order to ensure success of the programme including: 

  1. Ensure proper functioning of the SBSECC project and carrying out KAM roles for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, reporting, and closure of the project;

Requirements:

  • A degree either in Management, Engineering or Project Management from a reputable University and a Diploma in Project Planning and Management  
  • Over 3 years experience driving energy management initiatives in a highly competitive environment.
  • Good report writing and communications skills.
  • Commercial skills in; marketing, sales , business development and financial management will be an added advantage
  • Leadership and management skills, performance standard setting, project management and monitoring skills

Job Purpose: To provide overall coordination and oversight role to the Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation with the aim of ensuring its success, sustainability and its delivery of profitable energy services

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating various studies, audits and trainings conducted at CEEC by 

  • Developing ToRs
  • Overseeing the consultants selections
  • Review and approving consultants reports


2) Ensuring the implementation of activities emanating from the yearly CEEC workplan;

3) Manage and coordinate the CEEC activities which include:-


  • Providing continuing capacity building and awareness of energy efficiency and conservation in the manufacturing and related sectors;
  • Coordinating specialised training on energy efficiency for enterprises;
  • Coordinate the Certification of New Energy Managers; 
  • Increased investment in energy efficiency by industry;
  • Ensuring the sustainability of the CEEC;
  • Organize and coordinate the Energy Management Award (EMA) activities which include sponsorships, meetings and workshops that will culminate in the Gala event;
  • Promote energy audits and implementation of energy efficiency measures within industry;


4) Promote numerous donor projects housed at CEEC within industry and nationally;

5) Provide oversight on the quality of energy audits performed by contracted auditors;

6) Oversee fundraising for energy efficiency activities and manage linkages with key stakeholders / donors so as to ensure sustainability of the CEEC.  This will be               done in close consultation with the Chief Executive;

7) Liaise with relevant government, donor / lending agencies and private sector organizations to maintain interest on energy efficiency activities;

8) Prepare all necessary documentation for the relevant KAM Committee and Advisory Board / Steering committee meetings;

9) Prepare regular progress reports and distribute to relevant parties including donors;

10) Representing KAM at energy efficiency related meetings;

11) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive.


Qualifications:

  • A degree either in Management, Engineering and physical sciences from a reputable institution
  • Over 3 years experience driving energy management initiatives in a highly competitive environment is a must;

Job Purpose:

To increase business uptake for the services offered under KAM Consulting:- Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Regional technical assistance program (RTAP), KAM Manufacturing Academy and Strengthening Business Society Engagement in Climate Change Resilience (SBSECC) programme.

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be a cross-functional role supporting services under KAM consulting with duties as follows; 

1.       Developing annual marketing and sales plans geared towards significantly increasing the number of audited industries in line with strategy and targets and within budget, including strategies and performance targets.

2.       Communicating with target audiences and managing customer relationships.

3.       Executing marketing strategies, marketing materials and campaigns for increased uptake of energy related services.

4.       Liaising and networking with a range of stakeholders including customers, colleagues, suppliers and partner organizations to improve the volume of service to the market.

5.       Identify industries that require assistance in energy management.

6.       Give regular feedbacks on customer preferences.

7.       Developing a working framework to integrate energy auditing, technical assistance and financing into a single product offering to the market/ clients.

8.       Together with KAM communications department, developing articles on current energy issues that affect our members and clients of KAM energy services.

9.       Work alongside Communications and the CEEC teams to coordinate and manage the Energy Management Award (EMA) activities and specific events leading to a successful Gala Night.

10.   Support Product Training for both CEEC and RTAP and work towards mobilizing interest and ensuring market uptake.

11.   Attend assigned  forums to promote CEEC and RTAP activities

12.   Other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in either of the following; Economics, Business Development, Marketing, Communication Or Engineering & Diploma in Marketing from recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant professional experience.
  • Computer proficiency
