KAM is planning a Design Strategy Workshop in March 2010. This workshop is tailor made for in-house corporate design groups working in graphic design, packaging design, product design and or product and associated service development.

Objective;To help KAM membership, better understand the value of design strategy to domestic and export market planning, as well as become aware of creative techniques used to better establish design as a core strategic manufacturing business competency.

We will interactively review in principle organizational context for managing design - product / service development - and how to apply its strategic value for organizational success.We will cover basic topics using case studies, post it notes and use scenario activity model:

1.       Case Study: Tesco Stores Limited - Product Development and Packaging Strategy.

2.       Scenario Activity - to facilitate design thinking and ideas amongst participants about:

·         How to enable - user centred research, prototyping, communication graphics, packaging and product design - experiential design, product / service development processes.

·         How to determine an accurate listing of ways in which design strategy adds value to outcomes of scenario activity and how to articulate this value effectively using prototypes - the idea is provide each participant with basic adaptable tools they can use in their sector – to test validity of product idea amongst user groups.

3.      Overview of user centred design development - a presentation reference material – for each participant to take away
