The committee handles matters of regional tax issues including the Common External Tariff for both COMESA and EAC, and emerging trade issues due to envisaged COMESA Customs scheduled to be launched by December 2008.  The Committee also covers matters related to Kenya’s trade with USA under the AGOA scheme mainly for the Apparel sector, and the expansion of Kenya’s export markets through Business Competitiveness Services.  Committee has incorporated into its membership the Chair of National Tax Committee and some of its members so as to facilitate discussions on cross cutting tariff issues.   The committee has about 18 active members and runs efficiently.
